“Hot Stuff” Harry is a character I’ve had waiting in the wings of my brain for a while now; a smooth, flashy, big band leader combining a little bit of Duke Ellington and a little bit of Cab Calloway. I originally conceived him as a supporting character in a comic about a singing cowboy called “Ukulele Bob” which never quite gelled. I had him in mind for a future Hannibal Tesla story, but it occurred to me that Ginger’s trip to Florida would be a perfect opportunity to introduce him.
Oh, and yes, our creepy guy following Ginger does carry a bottle of chloroform with him wherever he goes. Doesn’t everybody?
