I’ve had a running gag since almost the beginning of the webcomic that Hannibal and his crew have list of standard procedures for common situations., so that, like a quarterback calling out signals before a play, Hannibal can just shout out a number and his men will know just what to do. The first one I used was “Routine #27” which turned out to be “Distract the Girl So Hannibal Can Work Without Interruption.” They’ve used that one a couple times, and Ginger hates it.

I’ve used a number of these routines in this current story lines. Perhaps I should codify them into an official list, but frankly, it’s more convenient to just leave them a mystery so that I can always add new ones as needed. Kind of like the Ferengi Rules of Acquisition.

It made sense for Hannibal’s kid sister, Alex, to know Hannibal’s routines, at least his more commonly-used ones. And it made sense for “Trick the Bad Guy Into Monologuing” would be a common enough situation to be “Routine #1”.
